Winter fun!

The girls have enjoyed playing outside lately with the warm weather. They like to build snow forts and toboggan down the hill in front of our yard. It is especially fun when we are in the back yard and they are on opposite sides of the yard – I am constantly running back and forth to put on a mitt, pick up a fallen kid, or check on someone (and then there is the need to grab my camera to catch a shot)! Who needs to work out when you have a big yard with lots of snow!

Here’s Anika being a goof as usual (in Jack’s carseat with his hat on)!

And it is so hard to believe that Sierra is already almost 9 months old! Where has the time gone – her latest tricks are climbing and crawling everywhere, eating every shred of paper or miscellaneous small thing she can get her hands on, shaking her head no (constantly!), and just being an absolute doll all of the time. She really is such a sweet girl!

New pictures!

So I have splurged and bought a beginner lighting set for my camera – it just came with an umbrella thing and a flashy thing (I know, I totally am a professional). I’m not really too sure how to use it yet, but I was playing a bit with it and this is what I came up with. I really like it so far and can’t imagine how great it will be once I know what to do with it!

Happy 2nd Birthday Anika!

She had a great day, with lots of presents, cake and family surrounding us. One of her favorite things is nursery rhymes and she especially likes Humpty Dumpty so James and I made a Humpty Dumpty cake (or HuM DUMPY as Anika says!) It turned out pretty good for two amateurs (maybe not Cake Boss good, but at least you could tell it was an egg! And most importantly, she loved it!).

Jack was the youngest guest

We didn’t do a whole lot at her birthday party – just played and visited, but we did head out skating earlier in the day. Anika is too small but it was Brianna’s first time on skates. She did pretty well, but was frustrated as she didn’t just stand up and skate on her own right away!

And today we celebrated her actual birthday by going to Mommy’s group and having cake, then after nap we went for a long walk and played outside for quite a while enjoying the beautiful warm spring-like weather!

Happy birthday again Anika! Hope you enjoyed your day!

Happy New Year!

We celebrated the beginning of a new year with some great friends out at their cabin. It was really nice and the kids had a great time playing and hanging out! It was beautiful down by the lake and seemed so peaceful. We celebrated with a pinata (the girls both absolutely loved it!), some dancing, and of course, food. And once the kids were settled down, it gave the adults some time for fun too! My idea of a perfect New Year’s eve (less the late night and very early morning the next day!).

Brianna dancing to “Good Night” (Black Eyed Peas) – one of her favorites!

And of course, whatever Brianna does, Anika follows!

The kids and their pinata!

Anika thought it was great to wave a stick around – only at the cabin we would remind them all.
